Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1080p Starfield PC Build
Obviously one of the most important components for this build is the graphics card. We can take a look at the best price to performance hardware right now to help deliver a system that can run Starfield at 1080p ultra settings. Looking through today’s graphics card prices we can see that the Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI Evoke OC 8GB is today’s best GPU option for this computer and it will work great at this screen resolution. Its price right now is $397.99, and running our hardware tests against that price shows this to be the cheapest but best performer for Starfield. Its price over the past couple of weeks has increased a bit by $9.91, which makes us think additional savings can be made here if you shop around. For reference, the lowest price recorded by us so far for the Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI Evoke OC 8GB is $376.05 on 6th Dec 2019.
Selecting The Right Starfield 1080p Motherboard and CPU
To fit with the above graphics card we have chosen a well priced motherboard, the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4, that will allow us to slot in a compatible Ryzen 5 2600 processor based around the shared Socket AM4 socket. With the chosen cpu and gpu working together we will get a great Starfield experience, that helps achieve steady frames at this resolution. The chosen cpu has itself been selected because it represents a good fit with the game and the price we found it at when comparing today’s cpu market prices, finding it currently priced at $185.99. Giving us a bit more of an insight we saw this processor being sold for a low price of $59.9, which was on 7th Jul 2020.
At $59.99 the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4 motherboard muscles its feature rich chipboard into today’s Starfield PC build. Bottom motherboard prices recorded for this mobo was when we saw it at $51.88, on 18th Feb 2021.

PC Performance Review at 1080p Ultra Settings on Starfield

Other Popular Game 1080p Ultra Custom PC Builds
With the larger screen resolutions always being of interest and something to consider, let’s take a look at how this build could perform. Running a 1440p Starfield we would expect 65 FPS at High and a drop to 47 when run at 1440p Ultra.
How this build performs for other popular games
When buying a gaming PC for a specific game we still expect it to run other popular games. So as a benchmark lets see how well todays best priced PC build can deal with these 3 games at 1080p. Star Citizen should get 61 FPS at Ultra settings and this goes up to 85 frames at High settings. Grand Theft Auto VI can get an Ultra FPS of 61 FPS and increases to 85 FPS for High. Far Cry 6 is expected to be around 61 FPS for Ultra settings and improves to a 85 FPS on High settings.
An Alternative Starfield Graphics Card Option for 1080p
Not everyone is interested in going with a AMD card, like the one we have opted for in this build. So you could try going for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Asus Dual Advanced 8GB instead, which comes with a 4% worse performance adjustment when compared to Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI Evoke OC 8GB, and is certainly a solid video card choice for our build. We selected it while also considering its current price point, it is costing $379.99 at the moment.
