After a long time waiting, we finally have the iconic Marvel superhero web slinging its way to the PC platform. The latest PlayStation PC port is one of the most anticipated games of the year, but how well does it actually perform? And what hardware is needed to play at its best?
First of all, in this PC performance benchmark article for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered we benchmark a range of graphics cards going from the higher-end RTX 3080, which is the recommended GPU for Ultimate Ray Tracing specs; to the mid-range GTX 1060, which is the official recommended GPU; as well as the R9 380 to see whether Spiderman PC can run on low-end hardware.
Then we go through the FPS test results of each graphics card running at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions at each graphics setting preset. From there we can see the performance of the minimum and recommended system requirement graphics cards and consider how well optimized Spiderman Remastered really is. All other graphics options were left at their default value.
Unfortunately, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered does not include an in-game FPS benchmarking tool. So in order to standardize the results below we chose a specific area for Spidey to swing through, gliding beside buildings and eventually beating up some bad guys. Since most of your time will be spent swinging through the city, we found this to be pretty representative of your overall gameplay experience in Spiderman PC.

Overall, the RTX 3080 performs extremely well in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered without ray tracing enabled, delivering over 80fps at pretty much every setting up to 4K. Therefore the RTX 3080 is perfect for playing Spiderman Remastered on Very High graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions.

The GTX 1060's FPS performance in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered at 1080p is pretty good, delivering 60fps or over from Medium settings or lower, and dipping just below up to Very High graphics. This means that the GTX 1060 is perfectly suitable for playing Spiderman Remastered on Very High graphics settings at 1080p resolution.

The GTX 1060's FPS performance at 4K in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is not very good, delivering less than 30fps even on Very Low graphics which was close to unplayable in our opinion. So the GTX 1060 is not suitable for playing Spiderman Remastered at 4K resolution.
Overall, the GTX 1060 performs pretty well in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, delivering a mostly 60fps experience at 1080p, and a 40-50fps experience at 1440p. Unfortunately, the GTX 1060 was unplayable at 4K as it dropped below 30fps even on the lowest settings. Therefore the GTX 1060 is suitable for playing Spiderman PC on Very High graphics settings at 1080p and 1440p resolutions, but is not recommended at 4K.

At 1080p, the FPS performance of the R9 380 is okay, achieving 30fps on the lowest settings and unfortunately dipping below that on higher graphics, which was unplayable for us. This means that the R9 380 is suitable for playing Spiderman Remastered on Very Low graphics settings at 1080p resolution, but no higher.

Conclusion
Overall, looking at the benchmark results above we can see that Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is not too demanding even on lower-end hardware, and can comofrtably reach playable frame rates at various resolutions and graphics settings, though does not have a whole amount of range between presets unfortunately.
For instance, the RTX 3080 performs really well in Spiderman Remastered, delivering around 80fps or above at all graphics settings across all resolutions. However, the frame rate barely changes between resolutions, let alone the various graphics presets. This signals a possible bottleneck or optimization issues (or possibly even CPU-related as others have pointed out).
Next, the GTX 1060 also performs pretty well, delivering a mostly 60fps experience at 1080p resolutions across all presets, and a 40-50fps experience at 1440p. Unfortunately though, this drops below 30fps even on Very Low settings at 4K, which was close to unplayable in our opinion and is not recommended.
Then the R9 380 surprisingly performs quite well on Very Low settings, delivering around 30fps on average. Unfortunately this is about where it stops, as any preset above dropped below 30fps and was unplayable to us, so it is best to keep Spiderman Remastered on Very Low graphics settings at 1080p resolution when using a GPU like this.
In order to increase FPS further in Marvels Spiderman Remastered though, there are several different ways. First of all, a lot of graphics settings (including Anti-Aliasing) are not affected by the presets, so it is worth disabling all other settings to maximize your frame rate.
Additionally, Spiderman PC includes official support for Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, as well as Insomniac's own upscaling tech known as IGTI. These will significantly improve FPS if needed and your hardware supports it, especially if enabling ray tracing (which was disabled for these tests).

Runs pretty nice on my machine for 1080p. Didn't actually benchmark it and it definitely isn't high refresh, but still very decent. Though I did manage to get traversal fast enough to actually get low quality distant building pretty close, that followed by freeze and game catching up on loading. Though so far, it happened only once. Feels like it is giving whole data streaming off SSD thing run for its money.

The engine has been demonstrated to be very storage heavy, where you couldn't swing faster on a PS4 because the HDD couldn't keep up (there was some PS5 demo). That could be one explanation for the abnormally high CPU usage (CPU crunching SSD data). Something worthy of a deeper dive (something I'm sure digital foundry will tackle)

For me, it's more about how well game runs in relation to how well it looks.
Like for example, one game might run "very well" at ultra settings but still look worse than another game running at low settings.
